In documents released by the court, Christopher Perea, told the 911 dispatcher that he "thinks he killed his wife during a fight last night."

The call taker then instructed Perea to administer CPR but he told the call taker that her body was cold and her jaw was stiff.

Officers also observed blood on his shirt, and a swollen knuckle with a cut on his right middle finger when they arrested him.

Perea is accused of murdering his wife, Loretta Rosa, in their home on Sunday.

Rosa's neighbor told 9NEWS that she called 911 Sunday morning at 2 a.m. to report that Rosa came to her door, topless, screaming for help and Perea dragged her back into their home. The neighbor called police again at 2:45 a.m. asking when they would arrive.

According to police records, officers responded to the home around 3 a.m. but did not make contact with anyone. Five hours later, Perea called 911 from inside the home.

Denver Police Chief Robert White has ordered a full internal investigation in the actions of the department that night.

Rosa and Perea had been married less than a year.

Rosa had five children, including two she had recently adopted.

Donations to the family can be made at any Wells Fargo branch, where a memorial fund has been established in the name of Loretta Rosa Donation Account - ID#2504413036.

Donations can also be mailed to: Romeros Funeral Home 4750 Tejon Street Denver, CO 80211.
