The Loveland Reporter-Herald reports Michael Stillman Maher of Denver pleaded not guilty Monday to impersonating a firefighter, theft, obstructing officials and attempting to influence a public servant. A trial was set for the week of May 6.
Sheriff's officials say Maher was dressed as a firefighter when he entered an area where access was restricted due to the High Park Fire in June. They say he had phony credentials and a truck with stolen government plates. He also is accused of taking food and supplies from crews.
He is accused of similar offenses in Jefferson County during the Lower North Fork fire in March.
