cellSAFE was created by Cartasite, a hi-tech firm located in Denver.
CEO David Armitage says that the technology was first developed to teach drivers to be safer and more conservative while driving.
When a cellSAFE device is attached to port in a car, it will sync with the driver's cellphone and turn it off. While the car is in motion, the driver will not receive calls or texts. As soon as the driver pulls over, the phone will turn back on.
Armitage says that cellSAFE can save money on gas. He says that people who drive more conservatively and are not distracted by phones and other items will be more careful about things like breaking and accelerating, which in turn can help conserve gas.
