BBB spokesperson Erica Sandberg talked about some of the most common scams.

"Well definitely the online shopping scams right now are really big because people do turn to the internet to find all of their wonderful holiday purchases, but you have to be really careful because there are some people out there who are selling stuff. They ask for the money up front and they never send the items, so what could be worse for the holidays then to spend all of this money and get nothing in return? So you have to be super careful as to who you're sending your money to and make sure you know who it is. Make sure you have met them. But also be careful here in Colorado. It turns out that Colorado is the number one state - according the 'Federal Trade Commission' 2011 for consumer fraud and other reported crimes. So it's really important we are all aware of what's going on," Sandberg said.
