Denver's Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security will be testing the city's new outdoor warning sirens on Friday, December 21, 2012. A date ingrained in many as the possible end of the world.
"There are 56 new sirens and 21 upgraded sirens providing better coverage across Denver," the City of Denver said in a statement. "The additional testing will be conducted throughout the day, in various locations to ensure optimal coverage and performance."
For those wondering about the poorly-timed date of testing the city has the following reassurement:
"If you hear an outdoor warning siren in Denver tomorrow, it is a test, not the end of the world ;)"
