Despite comments from several residents who expressed concerns about running the gun business so close to the school, the Jefferson County Board of Adjustors approved the special permit with a unanimous vote.

The vote is the final step before the applicant and long-time resident, Donald Jensen, is issued his federal firearms license.

That license, issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, will allow Jensen to act as a transfer agent. When someone purchases a gun online, that gun will be shipped to Jensen's home. He will hold the firearm until background checks are completed on the individual who purchased the gun.

Jensen said he plans to charge $25 for every transfer as well as fees for completing the background checks.

With the approval of Jensen's application, there are 23 residents of unincorporated Jefferson County who have been approved, by both county and federal agencies, to repair or sell, or both, from their homes.
