Around 11 p.m. on Jan. 18, police were called to the 2300 block of Emporia Street on a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a woman shot multiple times.

They rushed the victim to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police suspected a man - who lived a few blocks away - was responsible for the shooting. He was arrested without incident after a brief standoff.

However, on Monday morning, police re-emphasized the fact that they are still investigating the homicide. The person they had detained after the brief standoff was not held in connection with the fatal shooting.

Police are re-interviewing witnesses as well as looking to interview new witnesses.

Aurora Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information on this case to please call Detective Tom Welton at 303-739-6107.
