DENVER - A quarter horse used to pull a stagecoach at the National Western Stock Show has been diagnosed with equine herpes virus.

A quarantine has been placed on the animal in addition to six other horses on the same stagecoach team.

The diagnosed horse is in stable condition. The potentially deadly virus is spread by direct horse-to-horse contact.

It can also spread through the air or on contaminated equipment, clothing and hands.

The virus is not a danger to humans.
