So what did you do with the off-season?

Anything special?

Technically track is in-season. It's the indoor season. And Valor Christian's MaryBeth Sant is using the time to become an emerging track star. Not in Colorado, as a state champion she's already there, we're talking on the international scene.

"I had no idea, all I wanted was a good time. I had no idea these would be the ramifications of it," Sant told 9NEWS.

Last weekend in Boulder, Marybeth ran a time of 7.3 seconds in the 60 meter dash. That gives her the fastest time among high school girls in the country in that event. She's not 5th in the nation among all women, collegiate and professional included 7th overall in the world.

"I've worked my whole life for this and for track and it's a bug number. It's exciting and truly a blessing. Just my hard work to know that it's paying off, it's exciting," said Sant.

"She's a special athlete and we've known that as she's had some top national rankings but to make a drop like that in the 60 meters is pretty big," Valor track coach Brian Kula told 9NEWS, "Very exciting for our program and her family and a neat mark to promote in our program."

Sant has another major piece of business to take care of before the outdoor track season. She needs to pick a college to run track at.

Oregon, or Texas Christian?

She will make her decision Sunday morning, live on 9NEWS.
