Andrew Simpson's mug shot during his Denver Police Department hit-and-run arrest in 2004.

DENVER - Andrew Simpson was found guilty on all counts in connection with a fatal hit-and-run wreck in May 2012.

He was charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Simpson failed to stop for a red light at the intersections of East Evans Avenue and South University Boulevard when he hit then-24-year-old Masoud Bahramisharif.

"We are very sorry for this loss," Bahramisharif's friend Sarvin Tabatabei said at the time of his death. "He was very young, very talented, very energetic, very lively, friendly with a cute smile all the time. We are here to just see what's going on and what will happen. We hope the justice brings some peace to his family because it was a great loss for them."

"We can't do anything about bringing Masoud back," another friend Ali Ghamkhar said. "But just as a support for his family."

Police say Simpson drove a red 2007 Jeep the night of the wreck, but that car is not his. Investigators say Simpson fled the scene after running the red light and hitting Bahramisharif. Monday night, Aurora Police received a tip that led them to the Jeep and eventually to Simpson.

Simpson's sentencing is scheduled for late March.
