COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Jurors have convicted an Iraqi native of two misdemeanor counts of false reporting after an alleged rape of a Colorado Springs woman, but they have acquitted him of three counts of being an accessory.
The Gazette reports the jury couldn't reach agreement Thursday on a remaining charge against Yasir Jabbar Jasim, who was once a translator for the U.S. Marines. Prosecutors haven't decided whether to retry him.
Jasim is one of five Iraqi men who were criminally charged after the woman in her 50s was attacked in July. Ali Mohammed Hasan Al Juboori pleaded guilty last month to making a false statement. Three other men await trial, including one who is accused of forcing the woman to perform oral sex and one who is accused of brutalizing her.
