KUSA - Valentine's Day is just around the corner and this time of year puts many in the mood for love.
But, it may also bring out would-be thieves.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office and the Better Business Bureau say scammers will often pose as someone looking for love.
"What's so sad about sweetheart scams is that these scammers really put in the time and emotion to get you to feel sorry for them. They often say they or their family is sick or they're overseas - or even that they're a member of the military and need money quickly," Megan Herrera with the Better Business Bureau said.
If you suspect one of these scammers has contacted you, the BBB encourages you to call their main number at 303-758-2100.
