STEAMBOAT SPRINGS - Inexperienced skiers and snowboards have kept Steamboat Springs ski patrol crews busy in the past week.
The ski area says the skiers and snowboarders are leaving a boundary gate and then getting stuck.
"We have done a lot of rope rescue in the past week much more so that I can ever remember," VP of Mountain Operations Doug Allen said.
The ski patrol has had to rescue six skiers in the past eight days.
"The other night, we had 11 people stuck on the cliffs in two difference groups," Allen said.
It's happened enough that patrollers are now sending out the word for people to keep clear of backcountry access gates if they're unprepared.
