KUSA - The 9Wants To Know investigators have learned about a group of hackers trying to trick the people who you would think would be tough to crack: information technology experts.

Meeker School District IT Director Blake Mobley said he got a call about 9:30 Sunday night from someone claiming to be with Microsoft.

"We're with Microsoft licensing and we've detected a very unusual network traffic that we think is coming from malware and we'll help you solve it," Mobley said the caller told him.

Microsoft's website warns of similar, unauthorized phone calls.

The website reminds people to not trust unsolicited calls. The goal of the caller is to get you to install a special program that allows scam artists to be able to remotely control everything on your device and get your personal information.

Microsoft says if someone tricks you into giving up access to your computer, call police.
