KUSA - Consumers will see some of the best Mother's Day bargains for flowers in years, due in part to the bad weather.

The delay in the planting season has left some garden centers with so much merchandise it's overpowering the parking lots. They are packed with petunias, stocked with miles of roses, and dealing with cadres of calla lilies.

The crowds and the sales could be epic this Mother's Day weekend.

Tagawa Gardens is expecting around 400 people at their doors on Friday morning; most will be looking for hanging baskets. They have 11,000 of them and they will go out the door in a buy-one-get-one frenzy.

Resources and deals for Colorado's gardeners

Retailers say everyone has been waiting to get out and buy. The Highlands Ranch Ace Hardware expects to sell their entire lot of specialty Mother's Day planters and Broadmoor hanging baskets.

Consumer Reports says you'll be hard pressed to beat the deal on cut flowers at Costco: Mother's Day arrangements for $19.99, two-dozen roses for $16.99 and mixed bouquets for $14.99.

Get ready for the rush and for great deals on beautiful gifts for mom.
