CENTENNIAL - Eight men, including an Aurora school district employee, were arrested Friday for allegedly patronizing a prostituted child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Gary D. Campbell is a school district employee at Aurora Public Schools. There are no further allegations of any alleged criminal conduct by Campbell at his work.
An APS spokesperson says the district is shocked by the allegations and take them very seriously.
The district says Campbell is a support clerk who works at the district level and his duties "do not allow him the opportunity to be alone with students."
The Arapaho County District Attorney's office says Campbell and the other men responded to a Backpage.com advertisement. Backpage is a classified advertising website.
The other eight men arrested are: Phillip Lovato,39; John Dosch, 50; Michael Quarm, 27; Rene Varela, 28; Donald Lyle, 23; Celso Rascon, 43; and Mark Soliman, age unknown.
The DA says police, working with the FBI, went to the Super 8 Motel on East 6th Avenue in Aurora, just off of Interstate 225, on January 8 for a prostitution investigation.
Authorities say the men all paid for sex with a 17-year-old girl back in late December or early January.
The DA's office says the men all told police they thought the girl was over 18 - but under the law that doesn't matter.
The DA's office says the girl's pimp is also under arrest and they are investigating him more to see if there are more victims.
This case arose out of a joint investigation by the Aurora Police Department and Denver's FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets/Innocence Lost Task Force.
