FRISCO - A Colorado company is converting a shipping container into a school for children in Africa.
When you have a name like Mars you better have some out of this world ideas. So, it's a good thing Mars Van Der Colff has a pretty good one.
Van Der Colff is the founder of Cargo of Dreams. He decided that in the shadow of Peak One in Summit County he would place a massive eye-catching freight container in the Frisco Wal-Mart Parking lot.
"It is your typical shipping container, like the ones you see on ships," Van Der Colff said.
For the past two months, Summit County volunteers have been brining supplies and spending time working to dry wall the inside the container.
The simple box will soon be part of a school room for 75 kids in South Africa.
"It's a 2,600 square foot facility made of cargo containers," Van Der Colff said.
Since 2007, 15 schools have been built by Cargo of Dreams in this way with projects all over the United States.
