KUSA - As flooding survivors have walked their property, and even ventured out around their community, they've found some of the smallest creatures that have also been stranded in the mess.
The Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, between Longmont and Lyons, has taken in about two dozen baby squirrels.
Neighbors have found them in their driveways or along the side of the road. They were injured in the rushing water or or separated from their nests. They are too young to care for themselves.
The baby squirrels will slowly be moved to larger cages, then outdoor cages and eventually back to the woods to transition back into the wild.
