KUSA - As the federal government shutdown leaves thousands of federal workers without pay, the majority of Colorado's members of congress are choosing to part with their paychecks until Uncle Sam re-opens for business.

The list includes Democrats and Republicans, with Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colorado) going so far as to advocate for a change in the law to forbid congressional pay during a government shutdown.

SOUND OFF: Your message to Colorado congress members

The following members of Colorado's delegation plan to part with their pay during the shutdown:

Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colorado) - Plans to donate his pay, possibly to flood relief efforts.

Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colorado) - Will donate his shutdown pay to charity if Congress does not approve back pay for federal workers affected by the shutdown.

Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colorado) - Plans to return his pay to the US treasury.

Rep. Scott Tipton (R-Colorado) - Asking for his pay to be withheld.

Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Colorado) - Asking for his pay to be withheld.

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colorado) - Plans to donate his pay to Colorado flood relief efforts.

Other members of the Colorado delegation:

Staffers for Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colorado) say he does not support suspending pay while Congress works through the shutdown debate.

Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colorado) is unlikely to give up her pay, according to staff.

"It is time to stop focusing on all these sideshows," DeGette said. "Whether Congressional pay or piecemeal spending bills - and instead take immediate steps to fund the government and end the shutdown."

Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado) was initially undecided, however his staff told 9NEWS Friday that he has directed the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer to withhold his congressional salary.
