KUSA - The Douglas County school board race was not only a big race in the state but in the country.

Conservative reform school board candidates have the lead in Douglas County Tuesday night.

This is a slate of races that has attracted national interest because of its potential for a ripple effect around the country. The current school board has acted as a national model for conservative reforms to public schools, and four members are up for re-election.

Money has poured in from prominent conservative politicians, including the Koch Brothers. That money has them close to four key wins as the results continue to come in overnight.

Whichever group wins would control a majority of the board's seats, though the conservatives enjoy a heavy advantage in GOP voter registration in the county.
