Hundreds of people got up before the sun was even up to board the first Winter Ski Train of the season.
Each train holds 750 people. Saturday's train was sold out, and January's trains are filling up.
The general manager of the Ski Train says passengers will see a one-of-kind view.
"It's an amazing trip up. You go up all through the Flatirons, and then it turns. It goes up South Boulder Canyon through Pinecliff and Rollinsville. We go through 28 tunnels. Through this canyon there's a river and the railroad tracks," said Jim Bain. "There's no way to get back into some of this country. No matter how long you've been in Colorado, unless you've been on the train here, you wouldn't see this. And it is spectacular scenery."
This is the 69th season that skiers, snowboarders and sightseers have been able to take the train. Trains will run each weekend through March 29.
Friday trips begin Feb. 6. Thursday trips begin Feb. 19. The fares for the 2008-09 season are: $59 for coach tickets; $85 for club car tickets; the coach fare for youths 12 and under, seniors 62 and older and groups of 12 or more is $49.
