On Veterans Day, Congressman Ed Perlmutter, D-Colorado, announced the beginning stages of the Veterans' Oral History Project. The project will involve students from the Community College of Aurora, Comcast and of course veterans.
Using video recorders, students will interview, gather and document war stories from veterans. The students will receive college credit for the project. It's expected to begin after Thanksgiving. A video will be compiled for local use, but the stories themselves will eventually be sent off to the Library of Congress. Perlmutter says the oral histories will offer people something Hollywood can not.
"It's real, it isn't a film, it isn't a movie it is their experience and we need to have that," said Perlmutter.
