KUSA - Marguerite Salazar, the new director of the Colorado Division of Insurance, joined 9NEWS Friday morning to discuss flooding insurance and Obamacare questions.
RECENT COLORADO FLOODING STORIES
As for flooding, flood insurance is a national program provided by the federal government through FEMA.
On FloodBuddy website, they try to provide straight-forward flood insurance quote information to those who need it.
You can submit your claim on their website: http://floodbuddy.com//index.html or call 1-800-419-6211 for more information.
For those confused about Obamacare, the state of Colorado has a way to shop for insurance and learn if you are eligible for a subsidy. Just visit the website http://bit.ly/18P68wK for help. You can also call the hotline for consumers: 1-855-752-6749.
When you get health insurance through the marketplace, you may be able to get the new advance Premium Tax Credit that will immediately help lower your monthly premium.
If eligible, you can choose to have the advance Premium Tax Credit paid by the government directly to your insurance company to help reduce the cost of your out of pocket premium expense, or you can choose to claim the credit when you file your 2014 tax return in 2015, in which case it would either increase your refund or lower the balance that you might otherwise owe.
If you choose to have advance payments sent to your insurer, you will have to reconcile the payments on your 2014 tax return.
