GRAND JUNCTION (AP) - An economic adviser to Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter says Ritter now sees natural gas as a clean fuel for generating electricity and not just as a stopgap until more renewable energy is available.

Don Marostica, director of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, said Monday Ritter believes the state will need natural gas because wind and solar can't supply all the energy the state needs.

Marostica spoke to an audience at the Business Incubator Center in Grand Junction.

Ritter has often been at odds with the natural gas industry over new, tougher drilling rules the state adopted.
