DENVER (AP) - Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter is delivering the first round of budgets for the next fiscal year.

The governor is required by state law to deliver his proposed state budget on Monday. Instead he plans to give lawmakers a down payment with the budgets for transportation, agriculture and public health.

The rest of the budget will be delivered on Friday when Ritter is also scheduled to brief lawmakers on his plan to balance the state budget for 2010 and 2011.

Lawmakers say the delay was needed because their budget analysts needed more time deal with the latest round of budget cuts for the current budget year announced just last week by the governor.
