AURORA - According to unofficial results posted by the City of Aurora, an effort to raise taxes to support the Aurora Public Library failed Tuesday night.

The ballot issue asked voters if the city should create a General Improvement District to keep four library branches open.

The measure would have increased property taxes about $6 a month on a $200,000 home.

According to unofficial results posted by the City of Aurora at 10:14 p.m. on election night, the measure failed with 54 percent of voters against and 46 percent for the tax hike.
