DENVER – Big crowds have certainly tailed Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and during his most recent visit to the Mile High City, it's been no different.
On Thursday, hundreds waited outside his downtown hotel just to see the senator for a few seconds. It's been two days of waiting for Liz Flores and her family.
"Hoping to catch a glimpse of Obama coming out," said Flores.
Like many others, Flores did not land tickets to the Democratic presidential nominee's historic acceptance speech at INVESCO Field at Mile High. While they're glad to see others have had better luck, their Obama sightings haven't gone too well.
"No, I haven't (had much luck)," said Flores.
The same goes for Rush Darwish, who wanted to see the senator's speech too.
"We are here to witness history from a distance," said Darwish.
He didn't get tickets, but still brought his wife and son to Denver from Chicago hoping to land one.
"A lot of audacity of hope right now, no question about it," said Darwish.
So, he headed out to be an Obama volunteer and mixed with being in Denver, he says it will be enough.
"The consolation is that we are here in Denver," said Darwish. "We're going to hang out around the stadium."
Back at the senator's hotel, Flores' luck is changing. The senator is leaving and two days of waiting gives her two seconds of Obama. She and her family couldn't be happier.
"We got to see him today. We got to see him. He was going that way and waving at everyone, so it worth standing here for two hours. Well worth it," said Flores.
