DENVER (AP) - A judge ordered city prosecutors to turn over evidence, including surveillance video, of more than two dozen people arrested during a demonstration during the Democratic National Convention.
Hearings were scheduled Thursday morning for 30 people arrested at demonstrations during the Democratic National Convention. Another 40 people are due in court Thursday afternoon.
Brian Vicente of the People's Law Project says the morning motions hearings and the afternoon arraignment hearings are for people arrested en masse Aug. 25 at 15th Street and Court Place, near Denver's municipal building.
After the morning hearings, prosecutors have until Oct. 17 to give attorneys evidence for 27 people who showed up to demand jury trials.
Most of those arrested face up to a year in jail and a $100 fine if convicted of their municipal charges, which include obstruction of a street and failure to obey a lawful order.
Vicente's organization is working to provide free legal representation to the protesters.
Those attorneys say police overreacted.
