To celebrate, one house on Newton Street in Denver was painted pink from chimney to front steps.

Joanie Lucas is a tireless volunteer and fundraiser for the cause and the local chapter of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Her efforts got the attention of Yoplait Yogurt who had crews out starting at 6 a.m. on Wednesday to start painting her house.

The goal: to remind us that the fight against breast cancer starts in our own neighborhoods.

Yoplait has donated more than 100,000 dollars to the Denver chapter of the Komen Foundation.

To help the cause, you can participate in Race for the Cure. For more information, visit: http://www.9news.com/life/community/raceforthecure/default.aspx.
