The man was walking backwards 657-feet-above the ground with his eyes covered when he slipped.
Chinese Central TV says the tightrope was sloped at 30-degrees in some places and was swaying slightly.
The acrobat didn't take any safety precautions except for the pole he used to keep balance.
He fell about 130-feet from the end of the nearly 2,300-foot-long tightrope.
The drop was relatively small at that point, and he didn't appear to be seriously injured.
He later told CCTV he felt slightly faint after walking more than 50 minutes and slipped because of the wind.
