Geoff Flood said he went for a walk back in November when he stumbled upon a bottle sitting in the sand.

Inside the bottle was a note dated March 17, 1936.

The note read: "At sea. Would the finder of this bottle kindly forward this note, where found, date, to undetermined address."

The note was signed "H.E. Hillbrick, 72, Richmond Street, Leederville, Western Australia."

Flood said he started looking for the sender, only to discover that he had died in the 1940s.

He then managed to find his grandson who lives in Australia.

"Who knows where it's been," Flood said. "How many times around the world, you just wouldn't know, would you?"
