KUSA - Tourists were treated to an amazing sight off the coast of San Diego when thousands of dolphins made an appearance.
The curious sea creatures were spotted by passengers aboard a whale-sightseeing vessel last Thursday.
People aboard the boat started screaming with excitement and taking video with cameras and phones.
Captain Joe Dutra of Hornblower Cruises says the pod was more than seven-miles long and five-miles wide.
Dutra added that he estimated the 'super-mega pod' to contain about 100,000 dolphins.
In January, a large pod of about a thousand dolphins was seen off California's Dana Point.
Operators of other sightseeing boats in the area say they've encountered other 'mega pods on rare occasions and sometimes they can travel as fast as 25 mph.
