Law enforcement have made 55 total arrests, finding 44 other people who had failed to register, allegedly possessed child pornography or had immigration charges, but were not on the top 100 list.
The Marshals and more than three-dozen other law enforcement agencies started a state-wide crackdown Friday morning. They are arresting sex offenders with outstanding warrants who don't give police their correct addresses or notify officers when they move.
On Monday, police announced they had arrested Sidney Richardson for not properly registering in connection with a 1986 2nd degree sex assault conviction. Officers also arrested Jeremiah Smith for a 2002 conviction on attempted sex assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
"People that fail to register and are not being supervised or monitored are more likely to commit new crimes, and that is what we are trying to impact," said Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Dave Floyd.
"We tried to focus on the worst of the worst," said Floyd. "We tried to focus on the ones who are going to be the biggest problems."
The crackdown began on Friday and continues for several days.
The first suspect on the top 100 list apprehended in the sting was 41-year-old John Robert Martinez. He was arrested in Pueblo, where he was supposed to be registered for a 1996 sex assault conviction.
Also behind bars are Joseph Lee Archuleta, 40, and and Dakota Lamoureaux, 22, both of the Pueblo area. Archuleta was wanted for failing to register on a 2000 conviction for attempted sexual assault on a child. Lamoureaux was wanted for failing to register on a conviction for sex assault in a child in 2002.
Friday afternoon, police arrested Richard Benny Homer of Lakewood. Homer was wanted for failing to register on a 1992 conviction of sex assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
Saturday, police arrested Timothy John Channel. Channel was wanted for a 2002 conviction of attempted unlawful sexual contact with force/violence. Russell Foreman was also arrested.
Sunday, Reggie Rodgriguez and Fabian Johnston were arrested.
