The U.S. Attorney's office says 44-year-old Richard E. West, a.k.a. Richard Kearney, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He is being held without bond and appeared in court on Friday afternoon.
West was arrested on July 28 in Gunnison County.
Investigators say he was in a group of 15 to 20 motorcyclists that were partially driving east in the westbound lane of Colorado Highway 50. The motorcyclists were wearing Hells Angels colors.
The officers who stopped the bikers contacted West and found that he had a revolver in his waistband. He has a previous felony conviction in 2004 in New York for criminal possession of a loaded firearm.
If convicted, West could get up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
