Adams, 57, was reported missing on Oct. 12. She worked as "Psychic Kay." The coroner has ruled her death as a homicide.
Investigators are not releasing any more information at this time.
Police believe her husband, John Marks, Jr., who is also missing, may have played a role in her disappearance.
Debbie Mitchell is Adams' sister and she says she is convinced Marks is connected to Adams' death.
"This is terrible. Now it's real. Everyone thinks that they're except from the bad things in the world. There's not a lot of good in some people," Mitchell said.
When police did a welfare check at Adams' home on Mulberry Street in Fort Collins, they say they found evidence inside that indicates foul play, but would not say exactly what they found.
On Oct.18, investigators announced they located the car they believe Marks was driving. It's a 1995 silver four-door Buick LaSabre.
Deputies are still looking for 48-year-old Marks.
Investigators found the car at a motel located off Interstate 25 and Highway 119 in Weld County.
If you have any information about this case, you're asked to call the Larimer County Sheriff's Office at 970-416-1985.
Adams worked as "Psychic Kay" in a shop that was located on Harmony and Timberline Roads until 2005. Her brother said she moved the shop, which was classified as a psychic medium, but it was unclear where the business operated. Adams has lived in Fort Collins for seven to eight years, said her brother, Gary Adams from Atlanta.
Gary Adams said his sister and Marks have a common-law marriage and that the couple's 20-year relationship has been tumultuous.
