SLIDESHOW: America remembers Pearl Harbor

"Seventy years later and I don't forget a thing," Blake said. "I can't remember something I did yesterday, but I can remember it. I can still picture it."

It's why the return to Pearl Harbor was so important for Blake, Doyle and 21 other Pearl Harbor survivors. Each was sent with the help of the Denver-based Greatest Generations Foundation.

"This is kind of the last hoorah for a lot of us," Doyle explained as we sat waiting for the plane to take us to Honolulu. "I don't think a lot of us will be going back."

Four of the survivors are from Colorado.

Jim Doyle, George Blake, George Richard, and Frank Mack were all on or near Pearl Harbor back on Dec. 7, 1941.

This is part one of a six part series.
