I was offered a meeting with the Deputy Chief of Administration. We rarely interview deputy chiefs and generally only interview the police chief when it's a press conference.

After first telling me there was no problem with the crime-mapper data, the city then came back to me and said, "You were right. We've reviewed the data and there are problems."

ON JACE'S BLOG: What crimes are missing and how he used computer-assisted reporting in this story.

Some of the problems, such as 3,000 missing robberies, were easy to solve. The crime mapper now shows those accurately. Visit here for a link to the crime-mapper website.

However the crime mapper is still not properly displaying thousands of crimes. That's why we've made our own database of missing crimes.

You can search for missing crimes in Denver by either your street number or the name of your street. You need to use all CAPS when searching. Give the search about two minutes.
