CENTENNIAL - From July 22-26, uniformed military members and civilians will be conducting emergency-response exercises in various locations in Colorado. All exercise scenarios are simulations for the purpose of training. Guardsmen may be seen wearing chemical protective equipment.
Vigilant Guard is a large-scale, multi-state, multi-agency exercise focused on interagency coordination in preparation for emergencies and catastrophic events in Colorado.
Colorado National Guard Public Affairs, in coordination with agency public information officers, the Vigilant Guard planning team, and senior military leaders will provide an opportunity for escorted media to access Vigilant Guard exercise locations in order to learn about the training methods, capture imagery, and conduct interviews.

Denver Health Medical Center

9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
This site will host a hospital mass casualty and decontamination event resulting from simulated tornadoes. Mock patients will be taken through the decontamination process. Denver Health staff and other exercise participants will be available for interviews. Imagery opportunities will include mock patients going through decontamination.
North Metro Fire Training Complex
Park at Colorado National Speedway

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Due to limited parking at the site, a shuttle will be provided from the Colorado National Speedway at 11:30 a.m. This site will host the National Guard CERFP [Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Enhanced Response Force Package]. CERFP will conduct all five elements of their mission set: search and extraction; decontamination; medical triage; remains recovery; and command and control. CERPFP will be working in conjunction with multiple civilian partners. Operations will be conducted on the newly constructed rubble pile, a structure built specifically for this exercise. Operations will be conducted 24-hours a day at this site. Interview opportunities will be available and imagery opportunities will include the search and extraction of live exercise roll players from the rubble pile.
Community College of Aurora

1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
This site will host National Guard Civil Support Teams (CSTs) responding to chemical spills that resulted from simulated tornadoes. The CST advises civilian responders on appropriate reactions to incidents based on test results of biological or chemical agents and expert consultation. Interview and imagery opportunities will be available, including Soldiers and Airmen outfitted in their chemical protective equipment, the unit's mobile analytical laboratory system, and other specialized equipment.
Colorado National Guard Joint Operations Center
6848 S. Revere Pkwy, Centennial
3 to 4 p.m.
The Joint Operations Center provides an operational overview from the military perspective, and a strategic look at force locations and the exercise scenarios. There will be opportunities for interviews with Colorado National Guard senior leaders. Imagery opportunities include a look inside the functioning joint operations center.
