American Video Electronics is donating the system. Owner Thomas Lee says it will give law enforcement a direct view into the schools.

The new system is being installed at the Deer Creek Elementary School currently. Work is expected to begin in coming months on installation at the Fitzsimmons Middle School at Platte Canyon High School.

Gunman Duane Morrison took the girls hostage and shot 16-year-old Emily Keyes to death before taking his own life at the high school in September.

District Superintendent Jim Walpole says the new system will let officials monitor who comes on to school property and observe school hallways at all times.

Lee says the system is worth about $350,000. A Parker company, Mohawk Education and Cabling, is donating up to $80,000 in electronic cables for the installation.
