The shooting, which occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at 1555 S. Yates, was apparently sparked when a group of people was turned away from a party. One of the people in the group then pulled out a gun and fired several shots, hitting two people.
Denver Police say 27-year-old Jesus Garcia and 33-year-old Inocencio Murillo-Gutierrez were transported to Denver Health Medical Center where they died from their injuries.
Police say 27-year-old German Anthony Barron was initially identified as a suspect by homicide investigators. He was located in Adams County and was detained on unrelated charges from an incident which occurred after the shooting.
After further investigation, authorities determined they had sufficient information to hold Barron for investigation of first-degree murder.
Detectives say they continue to complete their case and plan to recommend charges to the Denver district attorney.
