Now, the corporation that owns the Rockies, also wants to own the trademark to the word "Rocktober." A spokesperson for the team has confirmed the interest in the trademark, but would not elaborate.
9NEWS checked with trademark attorney Charlene Krogh and she says getting a trademark of the phrase makes sense.
"It's the word and the rights to make money off the word," she said.
If the Rockies win the trademark, it would prohibit any unauthorized Rocktober gear made by fans, any Rocktober nights at bars, and probably the end of 9NEWS' nifty graphics with the phrase.
If anyone breaks the rules, they'll get some legal paperwork in the mail.
"It is usually: cease permanently, immediately, and sometimes more than that," said Krogh.
The good news is, the Rockies aren't making a run at the other months of the year. A Game 7 of the World Series would be November 1, so Rockvember is OK.
