Two-year-old Von McLaughlin, along with his father and older sister, turned on those lights at dusk on Tuesday.
The color blue symbolizes child abuse prevention. With the flip of an over-sized light switch, the McLaughlin family kicked off Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Von is a survivor of child abuse. When he was four months old, he spent a week in Children's Hospital after the family's nanny shook him until he blacked out. Von's brain was bleeding when his dad rushed home that day and Sean McLaughlin watched as paramedics tried to revive his son.
Now the family wants to talk about their experience and make sure no one goes through the same thing.
Von is doing "phenomenal" as his dad said on Tuesday and he runs and plays like any other 2-year old.
Child abuse is the number one cause of trauma death that Children's Hospital faces.
