On Friday only, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. you can get a free antenna at the 9NEWS station, located on the corner of Speer Boulevard and Logan Street.
Richard Schneider is going across the country, meeting up with NBC affiliates and giving away hundreds of free antennas. He is the President of Antennas Direct, which is based out of St. Louis, Missouri.
He planned his cross country trip to coincide with the biggest sporting event in the world, the Winter Olympic Games. Schneider feels it is a great time to get out the word about the digital television signal.
"We went through all the hassle of the digital transition, now comes the payoff that you can get multi-channel, digital video for free, all you need is an antenna," Schneider explained.
"It's tuned specifically for the frequencies in which channel 9 broadcasts, and it will be perfect for issues if they are having some issues,
"We're frustrated that people don't realize that you can get all these additional new channels that you could not get a year ago. And you can get a better picture quality and the word just isn't getting out. So we figured if we could give away a few hundred antennas in each city, that's going to get the word out," he said.
This offer is good only while supplies last.
The Opening Ceremonies for the Vancouver Games is next Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
