The Republican congressman testified Monday in a trial over how Colorado should redraw its congressional districts to reflect population changes during the last 10 years. Democrats and Republicans filed lawsuits after the Legislature failed to agree on new districts this spring.
Tipton says water, energy, and issues affecting public lands connect his constituents. He says the 3rd Congressional District works the way it is now and has shown to be a competitive seat that frequently changes parties.
The trial is expected to conclude this week and the verdict could affect the races in three districts now held by Republicans.
