A new study out of Brigham and Women's Hospital looked at medical data collected from more than 100,000 adults over a 20-year period.

Researchers found women who drank more than three cups of coffee a day had a 20 percent lower risk for basal cell carcinoma. Men had a 9 percent reduced risk.

The researchers did not see a benefit for the other types of skin cancer.

There are nearly 1 million cases of basal cell carcinoma diagnosed in the U.S. each year.
