They are seeking more businesses to join with them and help give everyone the opportunity to have a job.

"We have over 211 workers around the Denver metro area," CEO of Easter Seals Colorado Lynn Robinson said. "Those folks do all sorts of work. Some of these people have developmental disabilities, while others may have a mental-health challenge. But, that really fades into the background in a work setting because what we are able to do with them and with employers is find settings where they and the employer are both comfortable, and they can flourish."

Employees do anything from working in retail to janitorial services to the Department of Wildlife.

Die Cut Technologies in Northglenn is a local business that supports Easter Seals. They have employees, some on the job for more than 20 years, working on quality assurance for airplane parts.

"Once they've learned the site and the employer learns them, it really seems like it's a perfect match because our folks really want to be there, and [there have] been so many challenges in their [lives]," Robinson said. "Once they find the right place and the right employer, they want to stay there."

Robinson says that many of the employees become self-confident and find purpose in their lives just by having jobs.

"Many of them use employment, really, as a stepping stone to go on and do more for themselves and live more independently," Robinson said.
