DENVER - Wet, slippery roads may be to blame for a multiple crashes around the Denver metro area Wednesday evening.
The flyover ramp from westbound Interstate 70 to Interstate 225 was shut down after multiple crashes involving 12 to 15 cars.
About a eight miles away, a crash at I-225 and Parker shut down the southbound lanes of Parker Road. CDOT later reopened the SB lanes around 8:30 p.m.
The Colorado State Patrol says there were multiple injuries but none were believed to be life threatening.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said the ramp from northbound I-25 to westbound C-470 was closed after an accident there.
Denver police were working several accidents as well. They reported incidents at I-25 and Park Avenue, I-25 and I-70, I-25 and the Auraria Parkway, and I-25 and Colfax.
CDOT closed eastbound I-70 at Frisco due to multiple accidents there. All lanes were later reopened.
Roads will remain icy and wet overnight, especially on ramps, bridges and overpasses.
CDOT says they will be applying solid deicer and sand.
