KUSA- The Colorado Avalanche select Nathan MacKinnon with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
MacKinnon is a center who helped lead Canada to the gold medal in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and he was also named the most valuable player of that tournament. He has drawn comparisons to fellow Nova Scotia native Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Colorado drafted Gabriel Landeskog with the No. 2 overall pick in 2011 and Matt Duchene with the No. 3 pick in 2009.
