KUSA - When Broncos punter Britton Colquitt arrives to Dove Valley Monday, chances are he will visit the front office before the lockerroom. He has some paperwork to sign that will make him the highest paid punter in the NFL.
Colquitt and the Broncos have agreed on a three-year contract extension through 2016, worth a reported $13 million with another potential $1.2 million in incentives.
Colquitt is the franchise leader in career gross (46.1 yards) and net (39.5) punting average. In 48 regular season games, he's had 79 punts inside the 20 with just 18 touchbacks. In three playoff games, he has placed five of 16 punts inside the 20 with no touchbacks.
Colquitt signed with Denver in 2009 after averaging 42.6 yards at Tennessee, where he was a two-time All-SEC selection.
He comes from a family of punters: his brothers Craig and Dustin, as well as his uncle Jimmy all punted for the Volunteers and went on to punt in the pros.
Dustin was previously the highest paid punter in the league until Britton agreed on his new deal.
