DENVER - Investigators are trying to figure out what provoked someone to shoot and kill a 13-year-old boy in Denver over the weekend.
Reysean Abram was shot in the chest near North Enid Way and Bolling Drive in Denver late Friday night.
Police say there was a party nearby, but it's unclear if the 13-year-old was a part of it.
Abram was transported to Children's Hospital, but later passed away.
"It just breaks your heart," said Pastor Louis Ray, who educates at risk kids in the area where Abram was found. "It doesn't matter what the kid is - a great kid [or] a horrible kid. He still deserves our love."
Ray never met Abram, but works with a lot of kids around his age.
"It makes me wonder, was the kid listening? And was anybody talking to him? Was anybody teaching him so he wouldn't be in that situation?" Abram said.
Denver Police are trying to figure out whether the shooting was intentional or random.
At this point, they're uncertain.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP.
